Ginger Maple Hot Toddy
It’s cold outside. You want to have a tasty spirit outside so you can magically feel warm. This is the ticket! Grab a giant thermos, fill her up, and head outside. The way I like to make hot cocktails is by making the mix separate from the spirit. Then you can put as much as you want in your glass. Everybody wants a little different mix. So this recipe is for the hot toddy mix, it’s just waiting for your favorite bourbon. I used Bulleit.
Recipe made for 64 Oz growler. Half it for the 32 oz thermos
Make 8 8oz servings
⅓ cup cut up Ginger chunks
1 heaping teaspoon Cloves
6 inches of Cinnamon stick
¼ cup maple syrup
¼ cup honey
8 cups of water
Juice from 2 lemons or 1 cup
Instructions:
Put everyone except the lemon juice in a sauce pan and heat her up. Let it boil for 10 mins. Since you’ll be adding in alcohol later, and you that alcohol is not already hot, I would heat this up to 200 degrees or so. Then when you add the alcohol to a cold cup, it will still be hot.
Once it’s off the heat, drop in the lemon juice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and lemon wedge
